Who gave me this this information? The image below will answer your question.

Thanks, Alan!

Stay tuned for our review on the movie later today.

Alright. After weeks of delay, we finally saw Sonic 2.

Dad and I were initially going to the 2:20 showing at REGAL IMAX! But that idea failed pretty quick.

We walk inside and are suddenly greeted with a sign saying "purchase tickets at concession stand" ok, no problem! So, we make our way over to the concession stand to order that sweet, savory popcorn. But uh-oh! "Credit, debit, or gift card only?!?" (We only had cash!) Yeeeaaaah to put it short, we didn't attend that showing.

So we went to our usual theater that we've been attending since Sing 2. Killed some extra time with window shopping and clocked into our designated showing.

So how does Sonic 2 hold up with the first movie? Quite well, actually!

The plot started off very "by the numbers" where Sonic stops a robbery (and causing much damage to an entire street). He's then scolded by Tom (Sonic's apparent "caretaker" of sorts in this movie, but I can't complain). Basically, it was a re-used plot from "Chipwrecked" where (insert character here) is told that he's too young to handle topics as serious as such (I mean, you've gotta give Sonic some credit here, I mean he DID stop a robbery). And that "you don't choose your moment, that moment chooses you." Y'know? One of those moving family sorta deals.

Various antics ensue.

The acting was quite good! Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Robotnik (and all the other cast members and them some coming back or making their debut was quite nice). I'm specifically applauding Tails' voice actor (or actress?) they did a great job! Knuckles was probably the star of the show in all of this. While he was originally intended as the villain character and used as pawn by the Man of Eggs (shoutout to my friend, Ivy for that one), Knux did have his redemption sometime in the middle of the movie.

There's a lot more I can say now, but I gotta go have some hot dogs for dinner. Dad and I also have some projects we're grinding in on. Sonic 2 gets a 9\10 from me!

What about you, dad?

I am not at all steeped in the Sonic lore, but I knew enough of the basics to get me through.  So much destruction, though! Large swaths of the city are laid waste in the first five minutes, thanks to "Blue Justice." Tom's house is trashed. The city gets a second pounding after Robotnik powers up. A bridge is destroyed, and one wonders how much additional collateral damage there was from huge chunks of metal falling from the sky.

Not to say it wasn't well-made or entertaining.  It's just that, as a grumpy old man, well... you notice these sorts of things. The whole Hawaiian wedding thing seemed unnecessary, though.  But hey! An opportunity for more mayhem and destruction.  (That sound system... Noooo!)

I'm up for Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and James Marsden (Parks and Rec, The Office and 30 Rock) any old time.  Turns out that Tail's voice actor was Colleen Ann O'Shaughnessey.

My advice is to see in the theater for the full effect.  Such booming and thudding, I tell you what!

Plus the kids that were in the back, CHEERING for Sonic during the battle scenes.

Next up on the movie bucket list: The Bad Guys (2 weeks tops).
