In the early years of this blog, one show that I talked about was an obscure puppet show known as "Mustard Pancakes" which ran from 2005-2007 on PBS Kids and other networks. I have quite the interesting history with this show, which I hope to make into a storytime-style video at one point. But the short version of the story would be: I saw one episode when I was 4, never saw the show again, assumed I was misremembering an episode of ANOTHER puppet show that came out around the same time Mustard Pancakes ended, and it haunted me for years until I managed to rediscover it on YouTube and Tubi respectively.
If I were to describe this show, I would say it's very similar to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Just no Fred Rogers or trolley. Well, luck has been on my side with this show in recent months because after 4 long years, I managed to get my hands on one of the four plushies that were exclusive to the show's official website (which went defunct late last year).
Now ever since my search began, I've been using an app called Picclick. The app basically informs of of new Ebay auctions as soon as they're listed! This app has been a godsend so many times that I've managed to goes as far as to help my friends get their hands on items they've wanted for really cheap! A few months ago, a different Mustard Pancakes auction listed. But unfortunately, it was bid only and I lost. Then a few weeks later, Mr. D showed up NEW IN BOX for $80! I dipped into a bit of my graduation stash and bought him immediately, For a plush who spent his entire life trapped in a box, he's in beautiful condition.
Just this evening, I saw another Mr. D plush go up for sale on Ebay, and for once, I'm content knowing that I have one-fourth of the full set. Speaking of which, it looks like that plush sold quickly!
