Daddy Daughter Days: The Greatest Thing I've Ever Seen!

Don't know what to post here, so here's one of me and my dad's favorite moments from Camp Camp.

Daddy Daughter Days: Downtime

Dad is OFF FROM WORK the rest of the week due to using up some vacation time he was saving for my mom's knee surgery, but she wanted to put that on hold until next year because she didn't wanna miss out on enjoying the holidays.

And on top of that, mom finally got some weekend hours after months of only working on Tuesdays (with the exception of covering for other workers). Guess our Camp Camp drawing marathon will also be on Saturdays and Sundays now. And I am not complaining.

But for now, it's back to the slave work that is animation...

Daddy Daughter Days: Another Tuesday Night!

It's sketchbook night! We did a little bit of drawing last night to escape a conversation my mom was having with her mom. Tonight, I wanna focus on some REALLY dumb Home Movies and Camp Camp crossover I've been plotting.

Something I might reanimate with Camp Camp characters someday.

Max's (FORMER) voice actor smashes a guitar a mere year before Camp Camp existed.

Your worst nightmare...

Maybe your 2nd worst nightmare..?

Change Dora to Barney and THEN it would be my 2nd worst nightmare. Oh wait! They already redesigned Barney (except in my opinion, his redesign actually looks good).

Daddy Daughter Days: Rock On...Tism.

Went to my first "Rock Autism Film Festival" yesterday! Everyone from my class was there, minus one of my friends due to being out of town that weekend. Seeing as we were students, we got FREE VIP PASSES! And to make it even better, we got to film ON STAGE! So.... Here's some photos I took of myself (and Max Muscato) at the event.

Me and my friend Cruise

BOB'S BURGERS PAINTINGS!!!!

Going to the Betterwill today. Let's hope my limp from pulling a muscle in my leg isn't too noticeable.

Daddy Daughter Days: REAL Cane Sugar

My dad wound up getting Mexican Coca Cola this afternoon. He's been telling me about how one of the ingredients is REAL Mexican cane sugar! Which remided us of one of our favorite Camp Camp episodes.

Thanks for calling me out, DAD! Talk to you after the Betterwill with V.

Daddy Daughter Days: "Ask Him"

Recreating the infamous scene from Parents Day where David finds out Max wasn't signed up for anything at camp. Rather than cheap out an reuse stock footage, I made my own "form" for the scene.

"I told you. they didn't care." -Max 2017

This was loosely based off the storyboarded version of the scene (the "allergies" portion of the form was removed in the final cut).

AND HERE'S THE FINAL PRODUCT, CAMPERS!!!

CAMPE DIEM!!!!

Daddy Daughter Days: Clock Is Ticking

Already close to the 3 minute mark (I think). Still a lot to be done...

What a coincidence! I've done about 3 minutes worth of work this week, too!

And I've got a friend to keep me company today.

He's just chillin out.

Did somebody say STOP MOTION?!

FYI dad: The battery is low on the picture camera. So you may need to charge it soon.

No problem. The charger is on my dresser. We'll take care of it tonight.

Daddy Daughter Days: Progress Is Being Made!

With only one week left to finish, I KNOW I can pull this off (I might, I finished the pilot in a week).
Did some IMPROV today!

Daddy Daughter Days: Every Second Counts

Gotta finish this project before the month is over. So much tedious animation frames to draw and sync. But that's the life of a one-woman studio.

Daddy Daughter Days: Bust Out The Sketchpads

It's Tuesday! It's time for a "Camp Camp" watch party + drawing session. No specific episode in mind. I've only got 9 days left to complete a project of mine then it's onto AUDIO FANFICS!!!!

Also I did the math on what a 30 fINCH Budsie would cost, and it would be at least $203. Though this big project will likely not happen until next year at the latest. I haven't even completed the ref sheet yet. But I like to plan ahead on these plushies, so whatever.

Speaking of Budsies, I'm ordering Fenton on Thursday!

Fenton will be the second to last Home Movies character I commission. There will be one more character to commission after that, but I don't wanna say who it is JUSSST yet. (AND NO IT'S NOT THE BUCK TOOTH GIRL!!!! Who my friend recently told me was voiced by Brendon Small).

I was JUST talking about this with my friends yesterday!!!

Daddy Daughter Days: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING

Me and my new writer friend did a table read for Home Movies REVAMPED last night and we had a blast! My friend mostly focused on the improv aspect of the show while I just read what was in the script. I am considering casting him as Mitch though because his Hedberg impression was VERY on point! Will need to think this through.

In the meantime, gonna try and finish some Camp Camp scripts.

Relatable, or what?

Daddy Daughter Days: Blame Canada!

Apparently Canada has made their own Veggietales knockoff that's surprisingly decent.

I watched the first few minutes or so and I'm actually impressed with this cartoon.

Daddy Daughter Days: Taking A Break

Well. Today was (unfortunately) the last class of 2023. We will be resuming in 2024 as there is no fall schedule this year. I'll be planning frequent outings with my friends during this time as well as maybe getting into a theater program my friend is in.

Just gonna update my logbook for my original, semi autobiographical series with my best friend.

Daddy Daughter Days: Technical Difficulties

Last night, I started having issues with my mic. It all started when I had to restart my computer. No biggie, sometimes things happen. So I hop onto Instagram to start a table read with somebody and when they answered, they said they could not hear me at all. They just heard a buzzing noise. I grabbed my tablet and plugged the charger into the socket behind our computer and started the call from there as I assumed the buzzing was something on the browser's end.

After the call, I remembered I had just gotten some voice lines from my best friend for our original project, so since I had my tablet with me, I thought I'd rip them to the computer. I plugged my tablet to the soundboard and just as I started recording, there it was. The buzzing noise my friends claimed to have heard on call. I began messing around with the board and got it to stop. I got my friend's lines transferred and thought that would be the end of it.

...It wasn't.

This morning, I went downstairs as per usual to work on some more projects, but decided to test my mic first. I opened up Audacity and just as I started recording, there it was again. That God forsaken buzzing. I messed with the board like last night, until I noticed something out of the corner of my eye.... It wasn't plugged in all the way. I plugged the board back in and that seemed to have helped in some way.

If this continues, I think it might be time to get a new board.

Remember this?

Daddy Daughter Days: Barbenheimer

I finally did it. I finslly watched the "Barbie" movie. ...No, not the crappy CGI ones that were a part of every 2000s kids' childhoods (mine included). But the latest one that released alongside another movie that has since caused a merge in names (hence the title of this blog). We had 2 generations of Barbie doll collectors in the theater (Gen 1 being my aunt and mom, the second being me), and all of us had high hopes for the movie, I know I did. So let's dive into how that went.

I wound up missing a few seconds of the opening because SOME people (not gonna point any fingers) were taking their sweet time ordering lemonade and popcorn while chatting up the employees at concessions. Once we *slowly* got to our theater room, our eyes were quickly drawn to every girl's dream world that is "Barbieland." Barbieland is just what it sounds like, everything is pink and all the neighborhoods are lined up with pretty much every dream house you can think of. If Mattel made it, it was in Barbieland. Even I recognized a couple of the playsets referenced in the movie, like Barbie's dreamhouse, which was just an all pink version of the 2018 dreamhouse I bought off Marketplace a few months ago.

Every Barbie in this pink eutopia has their own role like how it is in the depressing world we live in today. One Barbie could be President, another could be a lifeguard, there was even an ALL WOMEN SUPREME COURT in Barbieland (God, I wish we had that here). We're introduced to our main... Character? Doll? Idk what to call it. Her doll name is "Stereotypical Barbie" but we're just gonna call her Barbie for the sake of this post. Her role in Barbieland is what you'd expect. Popular girl living in this luxury dreamhouse, has lots of friends, the one guy has a crush on her but she doesn't feel the same way. Oh yeah, Scott Pilgrim is in this movie too, but he goes by Allen this time around.

When Barbie finds out that she isn't "perfect" anymore, she needs to venture into the real world to find her human and make things right. Alright, good story so far. Human is sad, so it affects Barbie in some way. Unfortunately for her, Ken tags along, much to her dismay. The two dolls find their way to LA, in hopes to find answers to Barbie's current situation. Various antics ensue after that with a good bit of comedy thrown into the mix.

I thought the movie was really great. One of dad's concerns was that it would be "just another movie to sell toys." But it was much more than that. The musical numbers were great, the pacing was great, everything about it was...Well... Great. To end this off, I highly recommend seeing this film while it's still in theaters (apparently my best friend thought it was so good he's seen it 3 times). Barbenheimer gets a good ol (9.5\10)

Daddy Daughter Days: Why...

I never thought I'd regret getting a sound chip for one of my Build a Bears, but I do.

So Build a Bear just released their latest Pokémon, Sprigatito! Who just so happens to be my starter in Pokemon Scarlett.

The store had a fresh stock of these green cats so I picked one out, making sure to check that the face wasn't off model or anything before stuffing. I asked the employee if they had any of the 6-in-one sound chips. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, but the employee said they could record a sound off their phone. So we agreed to that. The sound wound up being Sprigatito covering 2018's "Despacito" (Remember THAT earworm, dad?)

I put all my shopping bags in the trunk of the car after my aunt and I finished our trip to the mall, and we were stopping at McDonald's on the way home since we had to return a lamp thanks to it being a potential fire hazard. But every time we would hit a speed bump, Sprigatito would start singing. We thought it was pretty funny, for me that only lasted for a short period of time.

The entire car ride home, we would hear the grass type Pokémon singing Despacito over... And over...AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

Maybe in the future I can take it back to the store and have the box removed. I hear some stores do that.

Daddy Daughter Days: "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" Says The Internet

There's been some controversy going around in regards to a small animator on YouTube. Someone made a REALLY good animated Scooby Doo short in the style of Rankin Bass.

I've seen clips online, and it looks AMAZING! Neither of us are Scooby fans, but you've gotta give credit where credit is due here when I saw that everything in this video is right on par with what a normal Scooby Doo episode would be... If it were crossed over with FNAF of course. However, with such greatness, comes great controversy.

The creator admitted to using AI for some of the characters because like a lot of small animators, they can't afford to hire the actual VAs. His use of AI has gotten mixed reception, mostly negative. Even one of the original Scooby Doo actors is trying to get them blacklisted. Which, in my opinion, is a bit extreme. The animator CLEARLY stated he used AI for BUDGET REASONS and didn't have any ill intent behind it. Not everyone can afford voice actors, so us small creators have to cut corners sometimes, even if it means using AI.

Well, using AI and not paying actual voice talent is a big part of the current Actors' Union strike.  Hammering a small-time YouTube creator seems like an over-reaction. Maybe we should volunteer to record lines for this person?

Now all I can do is hope for a "drama free" day. Not guaranteed of course.

Daddy Daughter Days: Another Downer

Kits is down AGAIN and has been since yesterday. It seems to be working on my end now. I have some other forms of Camp Camp content coming to my YouTube channel soon. Also my best friend finally got back to me for the first time in 2 weeks so I've been filling him in on my current fixation. Turns out he used to be a huge fan back in high school!

Maybe tomorrow night we could break out the sketch pads while I unload my haul?

Daddy Daughter Days: Bittersweet

Finally got another bite on a lot that has been up for sale for a long time. Still working out the dets right now.

This morning, I remembered that today was a day that I would've celebrated since I was a die-hard KOTH fan at the time. It was sort of like my St. Campbell's Day. But I'm also a bit saddened as well. This will be the first time I quietly celebrate Joseph's birthday after the passing of Johnny Hardwick.

Sad indeed.

Let's see if this potential buyer will actually follow through or not. If they do, I'll be getting $10 out of it.

Daddy Daughter Days: NOW Are We Done?!

I'm crossing my fingers (and toes) that this is the LAST time I have to redraw this reference sheet.

Gonna go enlarge the ref I have for Gwen so hopefully designing HER sheet won't give me a hard time.

Daddy Daughter Days: Not My BEST Work But....

 I'm a perfectionist, ok?

I never thought I would touch Paint Tool.SAI again

Hopefully Gwen will be less of a challenge.

Daddy Daughter Days: Head Count

Only 2 more Home Movies characters to plushify! I've already finished their ref sheets, so all that's needed are the funds. Don't worry, the two characters from Camp Camp will get their time in the spotlight sooner or later. ...Hopefully sooner.

Anyway super busy day ahead of me. Gotta do writing, voice work, visit relatives. Dad's getting his car taken care of, B-U-S-Y!!!!

UPDATE: First Pee Wee Herman and now DALE GRIBBLE?!

Daddy Daughter Days: Friends Stick Together

Walter and Perry decided to show up early instead of their Thursday arrival date and I could not be happier!!!

Came out a bit derpy, but great nonetheless.

Already got Fenton's sheet ready. Now all I need to do is wait for the b-day money to come flowing in. (Wait... That's not for another 3 months!)

Remember that absolute BANGER that was "Victoria's Secret?" Well let's just say a Camp Camp fan animatic is in order....

BONUS: Improvements are being made with drawing Gwen!

Daddy Daughter Days: REALLY?!

I can't believe this happened TWICE! I've had TWO people message me about items and asked for me to ship them. One of them was a lot that would cost me TONS of money to ship. Money that I DON'T have. The second was for a game that to be fair, wouldn't be expensive to ship given that the Nintendo Switch packaging is so lightweight.

Mom's working again tonight. So....

Storyboards from "Parent's Day."

Gonna see if I can make plans with some friends to celebrate "Street Campbell's Day" soon. None of them will get the reference though.

PS: I left a little something taped above my Budsies box in my room (the box that says "Bi And Proud" on it).

Daddy Daughter Days: Savers With STYLE!

Got my X-Ray taken care of. Got a referral to an oral surgeon who WILL do full sedation. So I'll be out cold during the whole thing.

Anyways, here's my Savers haul!

"Untitled" Lipstick Shirt

Disney's "Inside Out" shirt I plan on using as a PJ top.

"Dream, Believe, Repeat" shirt

My newest bunny, Nikki!!!

I also got a pink shirt from TJ-Maxx that would go well with the top for the party.

Daddy Daughter Days: Happy Anniversary.

As of today, my parents have been happily married for 35 years. Dad and I spent our morning at the flea market as per the first Sunday of the month. He found a movie for his anniversary present to mom while I made sure to spend my cash wisely as I'm headed to Savers tomorrow after yet another dentist appointment (how fun... \s).

Now to write a script for....

Germy's dad?

So far, the casting call is.

Me: Max, Gwen

My friend: David, Nerris, Nikki

A lot of the other characters are still in the process of being decided on who's voicing who in this narration.

Daddy Daughter Days: Stars Are Born

Fun at the film shoot. My friends took more photos, which I will receive soon. Dad, send this to your siblings as proof that I was NOT in charge of hair!

Daddy Daughter Days: Lights, Camera, COLORS!

Doing another film shoot with a local artist this weekend. This is the same artist my class helped film the last music video for.

This one

I'll be bringing my camera with me tomorrow to goof off with my friends when we aren't filming the video. Anyways, gotta keep practicing on those Camp Camp characters!

Please don't throw me away! I can still be lots of fun...

Just saw that on Instagram last night! Apparently the person who made this figure does a lot of fan made work. Oh, how I'd be willing to spend my money on this Brendon figure.

Also, new CC turnaround sheet for me to practice on.

There's A First Time For Everything

Where we live, we've got a little chain called "Mighty Taco." And let me tell ya, my parents always treated it as the to die ...
