Daddy Daughter Days: A Quick Favor.

Since mom is working tonight, do you think you could by any chance help me download some music off YouTube? The site I used to rely on has completely gone to shit.

We can give it a try. There's usually more than one way to skin a cat.

And afterwards, we could try those liquid egg whites we got from pantry the other day?

Egg White omelet coming up!

Daddy Daughter Days: Tickets, Please.

Saving up for our tickets to see "Bluey's Big Play." Depending on the availability of the seats, I'm hoping for us to get seated somewhere in the middle. Not too far from the stage, but also not too close.

When dad and I were initially looking at ticket prices last night, dad went to the wrong site at first. The site he went to had tickets starting at over $100?! Now, I was looking at tickets prices before and they started at $36 (plus additional parking fees etc). I'll have about $40 in my savings this week, so let's see what's available while I'm still saving.

(Don't worry, folks. We did get to the right website eventually).

Daddy Daughter Days: Did Someone Say "Bluey?"

"Bluey's Big Play" recently kick started their OFFICIAL tour yesterday. And upon further research, I discovered that the live show will be making the rounds in our area in April.

I've seen a few clips of the show on YouTube and I must say these puppets of the Heeler family are really well made! Reminds me a lot of the puppets\mascot suits used in "My Little Pony LIVE: The World's Biggest Tea Party" from "back in my day."

Dad and I will try and look at the venue this evening and see what the best (and most affordable) seat options would be. Needless to say, I'll be buying a Muffin shirt (and maybe a plush that isn't...$40) for opening night! I actually went to the particular venue the show will be playing at back in December of 2016 when my dad took me to see "Arthur Christmas" (yeah, remember that film?) And it'll be nice to come back almost 7 years later.

Daddy Daughter Days: Another VHS For My Collection

I have a variety of tapes sitting in my basement, but ones I normally collect are either unsused tapes (that I can record with) or what people call "blank" tapes. Blank tapes are basically when people try to sell their old home recordings for people to record over. But there are people like myself who collect these time capsules just for the content.

Some of the blank tapes I own are:

  • A 1999-2002 VHS tape that dad and I dissected last year where we found various content from Rocket Power to Pokémon.
  • Metalocalypse Season 1 recordings on VHS tape(s).

Well this morning, I found a 2 hour VHS tape on EBay with various Adult Swim content on it. The shows being:

  • The "What A Cartoon" block on Cartoon Network
  • The Brak Show
  • Home "Videos" (Probably Home Movies)
  • Mission Hill
  • "BalaBlock 2002"

Seller is asking $20 plus free shipping. They seem to have a LOT of blank recordings for sale, too.

Daddy Daughter Days: Since It's Getting Popular Again...

"My Singing Monsters" is a PC and mobile game that released on August 22nd of 2012. The game focuses on you trying to collect different creatures and when you put them all in the same place, they can create different songs depending on which location you place them. The game is gaining popularity again and I found out it's on Steam sooooooo....

I actually played this game a VERY long time ago. It was back when I got my first mobile device (an Amazon Fire 7 tablet). MSM is basically their attempt at creating their own Moshi Monsters. And it was a clever attempt at that. An irl friend of mine is really into the game right now, so I thought I'd be supportive and join in.

Daddy Daughter Days: A Craigslist That I Cannot Refuse!

I was looking through the DVDS\VHS section of Craigslist yesterday, hoping to find some blank or unused tapes to record shows off of. While I found some listings I had been meaning to get back to, I found something that was RIGHT up my alley.

Seller is asking $30 for all of em. Will discuss the location tonight!

Dad told me last night that he used to buy these 12 packs way back when. I know it seems weird that someone would wanna record off of VHS tapes in 2023, but hey, that's just something I like doing! Still gott finish off a tape I've been working on (it's a mish mosh of PBS Kids and Fox). Thinking about squeezing in some Young Sheldon episodes (season 6) onto VHS as I am currently in the process of buying seasons 1-5 on DVD.

Daddy Daughter Days: Another Monday Night

Since mom is at work tonight, whaddya say we have popsicles for dinner?

The following was a reference to THIS scene from Metalocalypse.

And no booze. That ain't food...

Daddy Daughter Days: Another Letdown....

My parents and I went out to lunch after my film class this afternoon. We wanted to try out a new (at least new to US) Mexican restaurant just around the corner from our house since our usual Mexican place was out of the budget for the week. I was all for it cuz of reasons.

So we got to the place and I notice we were the only ones there, didn't think much of it since local joints have days where they really aren't all that busy. And I will admit, their chips and queso were really good. But the quesidillas? No bueno... (Am I using that correctly?)

I told the waiter I wanted 2 cheese quesidillas with a side of rice and beans. Usually, at our other place I get two quesadillas cut in half. And they're a fair size too (and THE BEST), but these were MASSIVE! And forget the SIDE of rice and beans. No no my friend, those went INSIDE the giant tortillas! And they weren't all that good honestly.

I'll make up for it at the bowling alley tonight.

So moral of the story: Stick to what you know.

Daddy Daughter Days: An Unfortunate Update

Smiling Friends Reanimated will NOT be airing today. Some of the animators have yet to finish their parts and need extra time. Will let you guys know when there's a new release date.

In the meantime, have a photo of a brave little runt scaling one of our office chairs.

I've got class tomorrow, by the way. Now to get back to work on some important matters.

For all you guys complaining about the Velma reboot, get a load of THIS:

Daddy Daughter Days: A Brief Thrift Haul

Mom and I had our appointment with the dentist today. And considering that Savers wasn't too far, we popped in for a bit. Here was my tiny haul.

Everything came to about $12 all together. No munks, sadly. Also, that "Puss In Boots" movie? Was thinking the "Father Daughter" movie critics could make a potential return as of...Next Satuday? Our weekend is BOOKED!

Daddy Daughter Days: An Unpleasant Time Capsule

Dad and I had the house to ourselves for a few hours last night, owing to mom working again. We wound up talking about some badly made cartoons from both my parents' time (the 60s) that were airing as Saturday morning prime time shows. The first one being...

The Beatles

YIKES!

My dad introduced me to "The Beatles" when I was in 1st-2nd grade (so around 7 or 8 years old, roughly speaking). As he had MANY a CD or record in our house. In terms of animated features with this band, I only knew of the "Yellow Submarine" movie since my dad owns figures that were made to promote said film. So hearing that such an iconic band had a Saturday morning cartoon was surprising (I quickly realized WHY I wasn't aware of this). To be BRUTALLY honest, the cartoon sucks. I'm not just saying this as a Gen Z kid, I'm saying this as someone who grew up with The Beatles and several similar bands at the time.

We couldn't even get past the first minute of the actual cartoon! It was just that bad, folks. Dad even found some old photos of when the REAL Beatles were invited to visit the animation studio behind this train wreck of a cartoon. None of them were pleased AT ALL! (Though George did perk up when he found out drinks were involved).

I also found out Alvin and the Chipmunks did a rendition of "Help!"

Ok moving right along... Things get just as worse from here....

I have a very limited amount of knowledge on "The Jackson 5ive" other than MJ was a part of the band (cuz duh those were his siblings he was with, too), and they made a rendition of a song I played frequently on Wii Music (I'll Be There). But when I found out that this band got a cartoon show, a RANKIN BASS cartoon show, I knew it was gonna be absolute shit just from the opening title alone...

My GOD did this cartoon carry a lot of the stereotypical tropes from the 60s. The most notable being the 5ive driving off in an oddly designed car (they're ripping off "God Wants Me to Forgive THEM?!" before it even existed...Double yikes...). RB should have just stuck with the Christmas Specials...

So dad? Care to share your two cents on this unpleasant time capsule we dove into head first?

TV Funhouse hit the bulls-eye with his satire of this genre when he made "The Black Sabbath Show" cartoon:

Maybe a MYSTIC EYES cartoon is needed..?

Daddy Daughter Days: REPOST TIME!!!!

"By The Power of Magic and Fortune Cookies."

Fortune cookies are delicious and provide a valuable life lesson at the same time! What can one say? The only show that isn't so lucky is that new "Velma" series that just aired on HBOMax. I stated that I wouldn't be watching it, but part of me is still skeptical. What do you think about the whole Velma situation, dad?

I was 11 when "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" premiered back in 1969.  Even then, I thought the show was pretty lame. That so many people have a deep, emotional attachment to this show and its innumerable re-boots is mystifying to me.

I like Mindy Kaling's work and can't figure out how she got attached to this property. If she had been able to channel her talents into an original show it would have probably been really great.

In the meantime, I'll let Kyle speak for me:

Daddy Daughter Days: Noodle Bar Z

So that Dragon Ball t-shirt I got yesterday... I forgot to mention that the shirt was meant tobe some sort of promotional items for a "Soupa Sayain" noodle bar. I did some research and it turns out this place is a very obviously themed Dragon Ball Z restaurant in ORLANDO of all places! There are also some other locations that are in the Florida area. If you just so happen to live in Orlando and also a fan of DBZ, this seems like the sorta place for you to hit up.

Not sure how the shirt went all the way from Orlando to our state, though. Well, then again, dad and I spot all sorts of wacky shirts when we're out thrifting. But this once just had such a cool decal that how could I NOT buy it!

Currently making plans to head to Savers before a dentist appointment with my mom on Tuesday. Maybe I'll find more cool shirts or even more chipmunks (if that's the case, I hope I can find a Jeanette or Eleanor), but I'll take whoever.

This is that left-handed "metal guitar" I told you about:

Daddy Daughter Days: A Grand Return

Mom is starting work again (Monday nights and weekends). So it's safe to say "Father Daughter Day" will be making a return as of Saturday.

So dad and I remembered that there was an Office Depot right by a record store he had been meaning to look at for a while. And since there were some thrift stores in the area, I took my change purse with me and we hit a Goodwill and Salvation Army and this was what I wound up with.

I found the Build a Bear plush at Goodwill for $2, didn't find much else there (with the exception of dad finding "Clerks 2" on DVD). There were a few other items I saw that I contemplated buying, but ultimately left behind. We hit Salvation Army next since it was not too far from the record store, and that was where I scored these t-shirts seen above.

Dad actually found the Dragon Ball one in the men's section (I found the LOZ one there as well). One nitpick with this Salvation Army is that they never organized the clothes by size unlike most thrift stores I've been too, they just mushed everything together and wish you the best of luck that you find something beyond size S,M or L. But after dad showed me the DBZ shirt and that he found it in the men's section, we went and pawed through the shirts together. Not a bad haul today!

Oh, would you look at the time! MORE DETHKLOK!!!!

Daddy Daughter Days: Low on Ink!

I need to print out a script for my film class. Sadly, our ink cartridge is low and we'll need to buy a new one at Office Depot. Maybe we could run over tomorrow?

It could happen...

Daddy Daughter Days: Ah, Memories...

Hard to believe it's already been almost 3 years...

Uncle Scott sent this link!

On the topic of comedians, I found out MARC MARON appears in seasons 3 and 4 of Metalocalypse as a villain character known as "Magnus Hammersmith"

Daddy Daughter Days: Homework Time!

Getting back to the script I started on for my Home Movies mini series "Brendon Goes To College." The parts that will be filmed at my house are gonna be unscripted since I think I have a good image as to what I might wanna do with the first act (which will be episode 1).

Episode 2 will be filmed at college where Brendon, Jason, and Melissa sneak into film class. Dad originally came up with a joke where Brendon is getting some costumes together for a movie they plan on shooting, which just so happens to be a take on those mockbuster camping movies from the late 80s. Brendon has a few pieces of casual wear on hand when suddenly, Jason enters wearing a tuxedo.

B: We're going CAMPING!

J: Well, I was told this would be a FORMAL matter.

I would have loved to add this in, but I don't have a tuxedo on hand for my Budsies at this time. So I'm gonna use another joke I have in my back pocket with a similar format.

Luckily, mom has a doctor's appointment this afternoon, which should give me some time to do some filming around the house for episode 1.

In the meantime, here's a Dethklok scene that's sort of related to the current situation.
Music lessons!!!!

Just finished one of the props!

Daddy Daughter Days: Oddball Food Reviews

Dad and I picked up a few things at pantry while we were packing orders, since the coordinator let me pick out some items if there was anything I liked. First off was a new item to our stock, cookies and cream OATMEAL!!!

I spotted this item on one of the orders we were filling out. First thing that came to our minds was "what were the people at Quaker Oats thinking?!" But as a lover of all things Oreo flavored, I added it to our own personal bag. I actually tried some this morning and it was pretty good! Basically tasted like a melted version of the Hersheys cookies and cream bars with oatmeal thrown in. (Maybe try some too when you've got a free minute, dad.)

I also got a loaf of bread and dad got some hot sauce (another new item added to pantry). We even made a joke for a potential Metalocalypse fan episode where one part could feature Murderface chugging down tons of hot sauce until his face turns beet red!

A "Grease" prequel? What the what?

Daddy Daughter Days: The *OFFICIAL* Next Generation

Finally getting back to playing the OG Sims 4 full time. I didn't realize that Legacy Edition was a separate game until a few days ago when Sims 4 was updating. I'm glad to have the original back, because Legacy lacked a LOT of the recent content that OG has (choosing a Sim's pronouns, updated graphics, etc.)

So here's my recent Sim, Ainsley\Miles Whiting. (And their girlfriend, Cassandra Goth).

Love is in the air... (And I honestly wish Cassandra's parents would stop wanting more kids).

Daddy Daughter Days: Brendon Goes To College

I've been making plush content ever since I was 13 years old. I still have all of my old content from 2016 archived onto our Windows Vista computer, and have been meaning to upload it to one of my channels. But when I got word from my college that we'll be doing more filming this semester, I was on board in SECONDS!

Today, we had music class. And one of our tasks was to create a "spooky song" to use in our movie! And even before class today, I already decided on a project for my film class. And that would be a mini series titled "Brendon Goes To College." The series, obviously, is about Brendon, Jason, and Melissa sneaking off to a college class that Duane is attending. Duane is only attending for the music class, of course. Am currently typing up the script for episode 1 right now. But here's a snippet of what I have so far! (Or part of, at least).

Duane: Ugh. This song is TERRIBLE! I don’t know ANYTHING except metal! *He slams his head on the desk*

Brendon enters as the song ends

Brendon: Hey, Duane. What’s up?

Duane: Uhhhh nothing, nothing. *He tries hiding all of his projects on the screen from Brendon* I’m doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, mhm?

Brendon: If by nothing you mean listening to boring stock music?

Duane: IT’S NOT BORING STOCK MUSIC!!!

Brendon steps closer to the computer, looking at the title of Duane’s latest project.

Brendon: “Haunted House Music (college project 1\7\23).”

Duane: …Dang it.

Brendon: Duane. I didn’t know you were in college. I thought you only cared about guitar?

"I DON'T CARE ABOUT REPORT CARDS!!! I only care about guitar..."

Daddy Daughter Days: Garageband is Back in Session.

Class is starting up again tomorrow. Better pack my bag later!

I also found another use for Barbie clothes. (Unrelated I know).

Daddy Daughter Days: Emergency Pit Stop!!!

I need an SD card for my class this weekend. Mom checked and Best Buy seems to have them for about $13-$14 each (compared to Walgreens). So we're gonna need to stop there tonight either before or after we order McGuirk.

Got all the money I need (and already have $120 for Walter).

Side note: I was working on a script for an episode of my HM fan series last night. The episode was focusing on Brendon making an anti bullying PSA as a class project, so he interviews some of the kids in his class that are the most likely to get picked on (AKA, those oddball looking characters in the background). And I chose three kids.

1) The buck tooth girl my dad won't shut up about (I decided to name her Bethany because that's the vibe she gives off).

"Bethany" is in the middle row on the left hand side (not that hard to spot)

2) Jeremy (One of the background characters that actually has a name). His design isn't hideous, unlike the other background characters we normally see. In fact, Jeremy was used in some early promo art during the UPN days!

He's the kid in the green onesie (obviously)

And 3) While he's not EXACTLY a background character, I decided to have Fenton Mulley be a part of this because well....He's Fenton.

So yeah, would it be ok if we stopped at Best Buy tonight to pick up that SD card?

The SD card is now in hand! (Best Buy is on my way home from work, BTW.)

Daddy Daughter Days: Storyboards

Here are some stills from my recent storyboard for Home Movies REVAMPED.

Possibly gonna work on scene 2 later.

Can't wait to see what the new crew does with this. Good storyboard panels!

Daddy Daughter Days: Understanding GEEK CULTURE!

Dad dug out some old comic books the other day, and two that stood out to both of us were the "Eltingville Club" comics. "Eltingville Club" is a comic series about a group of teenage boys who are die hard fans of famous franchises like Spiderman and Star Wars, and they're willing to collect almost ANYTHING from said franchises. This series was so successful that they got a pilot on Adult Swim (sadly, a full series never came of it.)

I first saw the pilot when I was 8, after accidentally walking in on my dad watching it. The plot was basically a rehash from one of the comics where two of the teenagers, Josh and Will (I think?) fight over an expensive Star Wars figure. I sat myself down one night all these years later and tuned into the pilot again. And I understand things MUCH better than when I first saw it when I was 8. I've witnessed die hards both online and real life (hey, I'm one of those people myself.)

Maybe dad and I can sit down and watch the pilot together this evening while I read through the comics?

Daddy Daughter Days: More Swag? Yes, Please!

My aunt and uncle (my uncle being mom's brother) stopped in to visit with some Christmas gifts. I got a choice amount of items today! And the three of us (me and my parents) got an AIR FRYER of all things! Now to figure out where to put the big thing...

In the meantime, take a look at my gifts!

There's A First Time For Everything

Where we live, we've got a little chain called "Mighty Taco." And let me tell ya, my parents always treated it as the to die ...
