Dad and I have finally started on the animation process for "Bijou Blackout" as of last night. Here's our title card!
What is important (besides the short) is that I find my Louise hat to wear to the Bob's Burgers Movie!
The escapades of an autistic daughter and her dad. Follow along to see what oddball posts will surface from the depths of the basement. In the words of Courtney Campbell, "Come on in and spend some time with us!"

Dad did some lawn work yesterday afternoon, which unfortunately resulted in a bad sunburn.
I'll be busy with my mom and grandma this afternoon while dad is visiting a friend. So we each have our own little outings for today. That's the post.
Morning started with mom leaving for her shift at work (9-1). Leaving me and dad to decide on what our breakfast will be, because we botched up yesterday's breakfast, I settled on some cereal.
Once dad left for church, I did my own thing for a little bit. Mostly uploading a video of me and my friends playing a "Spongebob Trivia" game at our meetup.Speaking of. I scored a few deals at the arcade place yesterday. Not only was this place an arcade, but it was also a toy and video game store! After some browsing, I found a small bin of LPS and accessories for $4.99 a piece (the accessories I chose were 99 cents together).
These pets were very dirty when I first bought them, but after a little cleaning, they turned out a little bit cleaner.I also spotted some Kidrobot Bob's Burgers figures for the same price. Will consider going back in a few weeks to get the "Buttloose Tina" figure (we actually watched the same episode that morning).
After the furmeet, I suggested we head to a Goodwill that we passed on our way there (this location was right across from Sunny's, which is how I remember it). So we stopped in on the way home, and left with a Build a Bear with a red Christmas dress and matching undies (which I'll use as those short shorts for my Budsies). As well as a Simpsons VHS tape with the two part episode "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"
Overall, a pretty successful Saturday. Now back to today.
Dad came home from church a few minutes ago while I was grinding away at an animation.
Dad: *in a Mr. Frog voice* Hello.
Me: *in same voice* Hello.
Dad: I brought some hamburgers!
I then dropped everything and went upstairs. We each got 2 burgers from MCDonald's (since I will be getting my chicken sandwich and mozz. sticks from Burger King later tonight). Anyways, happy early Memorial Day!
My next video features 5 out of the 6 plushies in my collection. Gotta feel bad for Duane though since he's gonna be on his own while the others are out filming.
So while dad and I were getting directions to the location of today's meetup (not taking place at the bowling alley like normal). We found an arcade like area about a block or so away. So I guess you could say it would be a "temporary pit stop" of sorts. All you should know is I've got a ton of quarters to blow on claw machines and the monkey machine when we head back to the cinemas is a couple of weeks (its mortgage time for us this week. So our choices of entertainment are all but limited at the moment).
Saturday: Furmeet 12pm-9pm. Currently making arrangements with my friend's mom. Beforehand, we can at least get some work done on Bijou Blackout possibly.
Looks like it's going to be too rainy to do lawn maintenance, so maybe?
Sunday: Grandma will be staying with us. Food pantry may or may not be closed due to the holiday, won't know until then I guess. And HOPEFULLY there won't be any more leaks in the house.
Confirmed: no food pantry on Sunday. (Maybe I can get some yard work done if it's dry enough?)
After mortgage week, its back to being movie critics!
So at the moment, I'm feeling nostalgic for two shows. Those being...
I actually watched an episode of Fireman Sam's recent 13th season! And when I tell you all the graphics had a major upgrade, it did. Everything in season 13 is more polished and detailed. Maybe I could show dad a few episodes?Anyways, still working on Bijou Blackout. I'll probably do another breakroom animatic for when Mr. Boss enters with the tickets. Until then, time to indulge in more of my favorite shows!
Check out this article about Loren Bouchard! Mentions of Dr. Katz, Science Court, Home Movies and Bob's Burgers abound:
Cuz chaos is about to me made!
Lines:✅
Script:✅
Animation: ...
So now we must move onto the hard part. Animation. This will be a fully animated short just like any normal Smiling Friends episode. We'll both be animating together so I won't be casted as the "slave driver." I'll be animating scenes for different stage directions and expressions, so basically the animatic dept. so to speak.
Another thing I did was download Glep's lines from episode 2 thanks to our handy dandy new SCREEN RECORDER!!!!
I'll try my hand at doing an animatic for the first few seconds and maybe dad and I can get to fully animating it over the weekend. By the way, do you have the red drive with you at work? Cuz uhhhh. I might need it for the animatics.
It's on my dre...
Nevermind. I got it from the dresser!
OK, we'll see what we need to do to get started.
Dad printed out the script for our short so he could record his lines easier. Unlike me where I just look off the computer screen while recording.
My best friend and I have also been writing shorts for Smiling Friends as well. Our most recent being an episode where Glep becomes popular in Japan and the other critters win a free trip to Japan with him.
Now to move onto the harder stuff. Animation!
Major apologies for not being able to update yesterday's post. We had a small get together and it kinda kept me from using the computer. But here we go.
So our Pokémon guy, Phil had a lot of new stock. Which is to be expected if you're going around selling bootleg Pokémon figures. But the thing is, he also got some new figures in stock. These slightly larger Pikachus, all of them came in various little designs and at only a buck each compared to the usual 3 for $1 that the mini Pokémon go for.
To put it short: I spent $20 on a bunch of these figures...
Other than that, I worked up another idea for a short that I'll let you in on tomorrow possibly. Bijou Blackout continues! *Tomorrow most likely*
WOW! Sunday turned out to be busy and nerve-wracking! I was too wrung-out to work on our projects.
Welp. Comic Con season has risen once again. And what better way to start off as Inez (she's rarely been to any sort of con as a cosplay). And with that, there's bound to be more of those crummy bootleg Pokemon from sites like Wish and Aliexpress.
See you after the con!
Everyone and their dead relatives probably know of a little show called Veggietales. It was basically a Christian series about various characters you'd normally find in your local produce section re-enacting stories from the Bible! This show was a hit among people of all ages and beliefs (heck, even I, and ATHEIST still enjoy watching this stuff).
If you want a more in depth history, I'd suggest you check our Saberspark's video below.
Sadly, a lot of us hard-core Veggie-fans were greeted with some sad news a few days ago.
To put it into easier context. Phil and Mike wanted more control over the series with its most recent reboot "The Veggietales Show" that first came out in 2019. Big Idea was fine with this, but they made the horrible mistake of REPLACING all the original voice actors with.... Average sound alikes. We have only heard the new voices for Bob and Larry. Both were actually quite good! Larry could use some fine tuning, but Bob's was actually pretty accurate! Aside from these two, we don't know what the new voices for Junior, Archie, and Mr. Nezzer sound like.
I'll still be tuning in when I get that nostalgic drive for Veggietales, but things just won't be the same without Phil and the guys doing their iconic voices.
This has nothing to do with VischerTales. I just wanted to link it here!
Gonna be recording my lines for "Bijou Blackout" today. I'm considering doing Mr. Boss since he often switches between this sort of high pitched voice to a deep sounding Southern accent. Leaving dad to voice Charlie and an elderly critter at the snack bar.
In terms of storyboards, we've made it to part of page 13. Which is basically part of the ending where the characters are about to tune into the movie, but Pim falls asleep just as it starts. Then the credits will roll followed by either a during or after credits scene where- ....I won't say too much.
There was some recent news I was gonna rant about on here, but I'll save it for tomorrow so I don't get off track here. But here's a small teaser related to said topic.
Mom and I finally get to stay home today. We've had our fair share of running around, and just need a break. So what better way then to stay home, blitz through some school work, and relax.
So dad gave me a little helpful advice with drawing Alan the other day. This would usually not work in my favor as I often draw with a gel pen. Will share some sketches in the near future! Also, we took the night off from working on storyboards, owing to dad having an eye appointment and well...You know how it gets.
"We need to dilate your eyes..."
Jason is out for delivery! Making the trio of kiddos finally complete! I plan on ordering my next Budsie in the coming months as an end of the year reward for good grades. Plus its around that time Budsies has their BIGGEST SALE OF THE YEAR where all of their products are 25% off!
As for our next character on the chopping block....
As for our Smiling Friends project, we've settled on the title of "Bijou Blackout" and made some storyboards!!! Tune in for more updates!
Update:
Won't have much "free-time" working on SFR for the next couple days. But I did get to draw Mr. Boss' unknown child (God knows how he was birthed into this world) as part of the thumbnail!
But I will have some free time tonight when working on "Bijou Blackout" with dad. In fact, we found some storyboard templates to use for sketching the episode. Look forward to some more drawings for this short!
There was a recent shooting that came to light. Dad and I are of course heartstopped by this. The details we have right now were the fact that the shooter was an 18 year old and they had allegedly live streamed the whole thing via a camera hidden in a helmet of sorts.
So, after a month's hiatus. My dad and I are finally going back to food pantry! It'll be a bit of an adjustment as I haven't been there in a month or so due to being sick. But things should go smoothly! (I'll also be able to see dad's shelves he built a few weekends ago).
Then later, we're ordering dinner with grandma. So there's a plus :D
Back from the world of rummage sales!
Rummage Sale 1: Didn't have too much luck with this one. I got a car that has a built in FM radio that I could use for my LPS films, along with a "Now That's What I Call Music 53" CD. Dad got some baked goods, didn't stay for the hot dog roast since they were still setting up.
Ollies (pit stop) I had suggested going to Ollies because I, for unknown reasons, just wanted to stop in! We haven't been to Ollies since our big move in 2016-2017, so strolling in 5 years later was...Something. They did rearrange a lot of items (extra points for adding in a claw machine) but ultimately didn't wind up getting anything there (though I DID almost buy a Grumpy Cat book).
I scored a big book of crossword puzzles at Ollie's, so I'm a happy camper.
Rummage Sale 2: Oh boy...Now this is where dad and I struck gold! Right off the bat, I found some dollhouse miniatures for my videos along with some Barbie accessories.
I've had to store some of these things really good, as Mimi has recently learned that "if mommy and daddy aren't downstairs, I can help myself to whatever I want on the filming desk." So now I have to be EXTRA careful with my stuff. Mom always says "Oh, she's just a baby. She'll outgrow it eventually like Belle did." I don't REMOTELY remember Belle batting stuff around! But we did find some stuff underneath my dresser once. So, she could be onto something! Also found some little happy meal toys I wanted to display in my room just for the hell of it.
Garage sale season has officially started here in our state! And dad and I now have 2 we'll be stopping at tomorrow. I've got roughly $35 (I think) in my change purse, so that'll give me more then enough cash! Plus one of the yard sales has a hot dog roast, so technically we have lunch waiting for us right there!
Alright, now to actual business.
SFR: Just started animating Alan counting paperclips. I can already tell the process is going to be tedious. All the while combatting people on TikTok comparing my art to that of a first grader. Otherwise, I'm excited to see how this is finished!
Smiling Friends Short: Didn't get around to storyboarding last night. But will see if we can make up for lost time and take care of that. And I'm gonna make it official and say I'm voicing Pim and Alan. Another thing we need to consider is a NAME for this short, so maybe we could discuss that tonight as we're storyboarding?
I see that their episode titles are pretty straight-forward, i.e., "Shrimp's Odyssey." Something like "Movie Night" would probably be in keeping with the naming convention of the series.
Script: DONE!
Concept Sketches: Still a work in progress
Voice acting: ....
Yeah, so dad and I need to decide who voices who in this project. Dad said he'd probably do Charlie, I'll obviously stick with Alan. Pim and Mr. Boss might be put on dad's list. That'll be a deciding factor over the weekend. Glep's lines will just be reused from episodes that we've downloaded.
As for tonight, I'd say we work on storyboarding the video. Discussions of voice acting will be during then.
So I need to get down on my frames today, I've only done the building and only just got started on drawing Alan counting paperclips.
On an unrelated topic, dad and I have a yard sale this weekend! So "YAAAAAAAAAAY!"
I found ANOTHER sale that's on the way to THAT sale. Mwah hah HAAAAAH!
1 year later and my earbuds finally give out. They didn't stop working entirely, but rather one side falls dead and I can only hear out of the left bud. No worries, I can just go to Walgreens over the weekend and get a new pair (where I got the last set).
A couple things I wanna note today!
First off, the Smiling Friends script is coming along great, we got up to the part where I- I mean Pim falls asleep just as the movie starts. After that, we're currently unsure of what happens next. Other than at some point, Pim wakes up and Charlie tells him what happened.
I have an idea for the ending. Let's discuss tonight!
Secondly, I'm completely redoing my frames for the SFR project, as I had fucked up the aspect ratio originally.
Off topic, but I think another cheapskate night is in order!
UPDATE: There's a yard sale over in WS! Its at a church in the area and I was informed that specific sale would have what mom calls "the good stuff." Its Friday and Saturday from 8am-3pm. Friday will also have a bake sale and Saturday will have a hot dog roast! Admission is $1 a person. Whaddya say?
Does Mom want to go on Friday for "the good stuff" and the bake sale? Otherwise, I'm down to clown on Saturday.
Mom said we've a lot of school on Friday, so its a no-go (as much as I would LOVE to go to the bake sale portion). But I'm sure the hot dog roast will be just as good! :D
Plus, I was thinking of goin' to DQ on Sunday evening after a long day at pantry!
Remember that one blog post I made about having a very vivid dream about going to a crappy movie theater? Well dad and I just so happen to be turning it into a Smiling Friends fan episode. Buuut with a few things added to the plot.
We've established a few things so far, like how the characters got tickets to see the new Mr. Frog movie, which theater will they be going to, etc.
As for my place in SFR, things are going smoothly. I finished the frames last night and will get to animating them today possibly. The release for this thing is Summer or Fall 2023 according to the admin, so I have more than PLENTY of time on my hands. I've also seen the other finished clips and good Lord do these people have talent compared to my MS Paint lookin animations!
Tonight I wanna focus on doing some sketches for the fan episode (plus more scripting).
Welp. I have become affiliated with my first ever collab project! What IS this project you may ask? Why it's SMILING FRIENDS REANIMATED of course!
Getting things straightened out was insanely hard last night.Me: *sends email with an introduction to myself and my work, what scene I would like in particular, etc etc.*
SFR: Thanks for joining! You've been assigned with scene 7!
Me: Great! *looks at scene 7*
The scene I was originally assigned with featured the two characters that I can't draw.... CHARLIE AND MR. BOSS!
So I kindly asked if they could change it to a scene involving Alan and Glep (since they're the only ones I know how to draw besides Pim).
SFR: You can get your audio for scene 29 in the "Alan's Cheese" folder *sends me a link to a Google drive*
I thought this was gonna be easy, but this was the hardest part of getting set up! I click on the link, Google account defaults to my dad's. I try this a few more times but with the same result, so I tried sending an email of the link to MY Google account, that didn't work either. So I went to my last resort....Which was to use my LAPTOP that I haven't touched since Summer 2020 (man...That was a rough year...). But JUST as I set up my Google account on that device, the admin sends me the audio for my scene on Discord.
Is it too late for me to try coffee for the first time?
So I'll be doing background designs and the animatic for my scene today. But in the meantime, have a look at my storyboard!
So dad and I are finally making our way back to food pantry. Thing is, we've been totally left in the dark as to IF there's gonna be food pantry today. The church announced it on their weekly reminder (idk what to call it), but they didn't send us the list of who will be working there.
Dad will update me when he gets home from church. I mean, at least we've got dinner with grandma later!
No food pantry today. The mothers get the day off.
Movie: Sonic 2
Time of showing: 2:20 pm
Theater: Regal IMAX (behind the DQ of all places).
Who gave me this this information? The image below will answer your question.
Christmas has been a lot duller at our house this year. Even though we set up the tree and many other decorations (albeit very limited cuz ...
