Been on a bit of a Hedberg kick lately. So allow me to give you a quote since I'm busy doing script writing with one of my friends.

Been checking our local theater to see what movie we could watch for only $3 (plus snack money). So far the only movie I actually feel invested in is that new Minions movie! Sure I don't really care for the franchise as much as I do Sing, but hey. It's NATIONAL CINEMA DAY!
This movie is playing at the North Park Saturday evening. It is described as "SCOTT PILGRIM meets HOT ROD in this rockin’ romp through Buffalo’s music scene." (Probably not a $3 movie but it checks a lot of boxes. Maybe Mom could come with us?)
Dad brought the news of "National Cinema Day" to my attention. In celebration of this important day, cinemas will only be charging $3 to see a movie! So I guess this weekend's father daughter day has already planned itself! Hows about we see what's playing on Saturday and plan from there?
We could go after my class!NEW YORK – For one day, movie tickets will be just $3 in the vast majority of American theaters as part of a newly launched "National Cinema Day" to lure moviegoers during a quiet spell at the box office.
The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, on Sunday announced that Sept. 3 will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. Major chains, including AMC and Regal Cinemas, are participating, as are all major film studios.
In participating theaters, tickets will be no more than $3 for every showing, in every format.
Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in theaters. This year, the August lull has been especially acute for exhibitors. Cineworld, which owns Regal Cinemas, cited the scant supply of major new releases in its recent plans to fill for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Above from the Buffalo News.
Talk about a SPEEDY DELIVERY!
Nothing much to report other than 2 things.
1) If you live in the area, don't bother trying to sweat to death in the 90 degree weather out here.
2) I used to miss Mitch Hedberg. I still do, but I used to too.
Dad and I stopped at a few yard sales in the area this morning. I took about $30 with me in case I wound up hitting a gold mine. This was one of those rare occasions where I didn't wind up with too much, but struck out with 3 stuffed animals for a dollar. So it isn't a complete loss.
Luckily the second to last "Garage Sale Sunday" is coming up next weekend, so the money will be going to what I'd call a "good cause." Plus I've got another plush related package to look forward to.On the theater front, DC Super Pets was...Ok. I wouldn't call it the worst movie of the year, it was mostly decent, but I'm not a little kid or a die hard DC fanatic who's spent their entire lives off comics and whatever else exists. I'll give it a decent pass of 6.5\10.
I have no frame of reference with the DC cinematic universe other than knowing a few of the basics, but today I'll be watching what I think is the only piece of DC media that actually interests me. And that is 2022's "DC League of Super Pets" in theaters today.
Speaking of dog related films, dad and I started watching "Paws of Fury" last night. And from what I've seen so far, the movie seems alright. Love the voice cast (I'll gladly accept Michael Cera in any sort of voice cast). My takeaway is that I think the movie would have looked better in 2D\traditional animation. So my friends and I created a special of sorts for my fan series "Home Movies REVAMPED." These specials are meant to serve in between seasons 1 and 2. Think of it as how Smiling Friends go To Brazil was aired.
The special we're working on right now involves Brendon and his friends filming their own recreation of the "Jackass" franchise. Results....Aren't that good. (SPOILER: Shannon does homework for the first time in this episode). Luckily, the script is already done and I'll be working on demo animatics for some scenes in the episode. These demos are meant to portray specific stage directions, how the voice actors are to read their lines, etc. Work will start soon!
Science Court has had its fair share of lost media, with some of season two and almost the ENTIRETY of season 3 missing. But as fate may have it, a season 3 episode surfaced onto YouTube 6 months ago. The audio isn't the best quality, so you may need to turn up the volume on your device when watching.
Dad's back at work today, meaning you'll finally get to hear his two cents in posts again! See you guys later!!!
I'll see if I can tweak the sound on this...
Oh, yeah. Did somebody say "Paws of Fury?" Wink-wink.
Had a bit of a "girls day out" with my mom, grandma, and two aunts. All of us have been meaning to hit Savers for a while, so we thought it'd be the right day to stop on by. Sadly for me, there weren't too many plushies that struck me. But I DID wind up getting more sweatshirts for the winter season approaching.
Well, some cake and a thousand dollars worth of graduation money later and here we are! I don't have many photos on me right now, but here's a script my dad made circa 2018 to give you all some "content."
Welp. We all did a little sight seeing today. A couple of the places were outdoors, which scared me to bits cuz of the little striped menaces we call bees.
Soon enough, we met up with my two other aunts at Mike's Subs for a bite to eat before touring my dad's old neighborhood! Now last time I was in this area was not only for a yard sale, but also for an open house! Not just any open house mind you, but my dad's childhood home was up for sale at once point (circa 2018). So one Sunday morning, the two of us set off for the open house after church. One of the trademarks was dad's family would always take family photos for special occasions (First day of school, Christmas, Halloween, etc). And I got the once in a lifetime to do the same.
Picture this. A father and daughter are off to a restaurant with relatives for a get together while the missus wind up working an evening shift. We drive for about 20 minutes before seeing that one of the ROADS WAS CLOSED OFF! Dad drops daughter, aunt, and uncle off while he goes to park. The three of us find a table and wait for father to return (as well as the arrival of 5 other relatives we would be meeting up with).
Yep.... That was our evening. Now Gabriel's Gate was a great place, albeit a bit busy by the time we all got there. Luckily, we were all placed in a party room in the back so the noise wouldn't get to me. I caught up with my two older cousins and we chatted about old times. When it came time for us to place our orders, my uncle (dad's brother) decides he won't be ordering wings this time around (very out of character)....
A while later, our food finally gets to our table. The table next to us just so happened to order some Buffalo chicken wings and suddenly-
"Actually. I'm gonna get some wings after all!"
Family bursts into laughter.
M: I knew you were gonna order wings!
S: Well I wasn't but it just smells so good!
Suddenly my aunt (one of dad's sisters) gets up and walks up to the other table.
K: What kind of wings did you guys order?
Random person: Buffalo style!
K: Thank you! *she then returns to the table*
Our function resumed as normal after that (wings included). And I'll say the food was very good! The things I'd change would be to allow people to wear flip-flops inside the establishment and let people use separate checks! (8\10) Our dining adventures are far from stopping anytime soon.
We've gotten thunderstorms here for 3 days in a row! Seems Like we cannot catch a break! But oh well.
Dad's brother (and wife) got in safely yesterday and we've since had many laughs and stuffed our faces with pizza. I wound up going to Goodwill with my mom and aunt where I got an LOL Surprise pets plush. There was also talk of going to Savers soon...
Since mom will be working later tonight (5-8), we'll be stopping at a place known as "Gabriel's Gate." on a street named after my favorite SF character!
While I was mindlessly searching on the interwebs of YouTube, I stumbled upon some Weird Al concert footage from a couple of weeks ago.
And that's not all!
Just to think somewhere in that large stadium of fans and newcomers....We were there!Back in 2015, Sony Pictures Animation released test footage for *what would have been* a Popeye movie!
Sadly...This film was cancelled in favor of that stupid Emoji Movie released 2 years later. And its such a shame cuz the animation was really great and the voice cast seemed promising (Tom "Spongebob Squarepants" Kenny actually does a good Popeye voice, and I applaud him for that). For 7 years, this movie never saw the light of day....Until recently where somebody linked the entire animatic for the movie IN ITS ENTIRETY on Archive.org. And dad and I got to watch a bit of it yesterday. Now I haven't watched anything Popeye related since the passing of my late grandfather in October 2015, so finally watching 7 years later felt nostalgic. Dad raised me on the classic cartoons from way back when, so I had a fair amount of knowledge going in. From what I've seen, this actually seemed like a really good movie!!! Such a shame it got cancelled. My one only issue (dad thinks the same here too) is that the movie had the story of Popeye trying to find his long lost dad, which um...Has ALREADY BEEN DONE!
The 1980 POPEYE movie was about him searching for his Pappy.
My dad also doesn't like the idea of having to give an explanation\backstory to Popeye because of his own opinions that he can throw in when he's able to see this post. Anyways, our viewing of this hidden gem (pun not intended) shall continue soon! Maybe we can watch "Popeye's Voyage" afterwards?
Dad and his friend were meeting up to work on a project together, and since it would be a while until mom were to come home from work, I tagged along.
Stop 1) Tim Hortons
Ugh. Our neck of the woods has been INFESTED with Tim Hortons locations. Back in my hometown, we had Krispie Kreme, Dunkin, and a few other local bakeries. But HERE its Tim Hortons, Tim Hortons, Tim Hortons, Dunkin, and Paula's Doughnuts (a local chain). But the food at TH is decent, so I can't complain. So we stopped by and got some Timbits to bring with us!
Stop 2) Friend's house
Dad and his friend caught up while I kept myself occupied with my 3DS and two cats. The duo (dad and friend) took their work outside (pressure washing chairs) for a bit while I stayed inside, munching on some honey dipped Timbits. Work continued on for a bit and once the chairs were done, we talked for a few before loading up our furniture and going on our merry way.
Those chairs had been sitting a basement for decades and were filthy (and mildewed!) Any fantasy of simply blasting off the gunk without having to sand and repaint were dashed. MAYBE I can finish up this project and sell the "country kitchen" set before Halloween?
Stop 3) LUNCH!
Pressure washing chairs can sure work up an appetite, so mom suggested we get a bite to eat while the two of us were out. So we stopped at a little joint known as "John's Pizza and Subs" also known as "Home of the ORIGINAL (insert state) Chicken Finger Sub." We got the special consisting of two cheese and pep slices with a medium drink (with a side of cheese sticks). and let me tell ya, the slices were FREAKING MASSIVE!!! Great food, great service. Definitely coming here again!
Stop 4) That 80s Toy Shop!
We've been meaning to tackle this place for a very long time. And since it was a couple buildings down, and was actually OPEN for a change, why not stop in? (Plus I brought my change purse in case there were any yard sales on our way to the friend's house). And the title sure was not lying when they said they had 80s toys! There were toys from the 80s all the way up to the 2000s and even some from today! A couple plushies I saw caught my eye, those being some Mario (and Sonic) plushies as well as a plush of Nana from Peter Pan. Everything was fairly priced, but we didn't wind up buying anything today. Maybe next time!
Stop 5) Neighborhood Yard Sales
We hit 2 yard sales on the way home, one where I struck some CDS and Bratz doll accessories (meant for my LPS). The two kind ladies who were running this particular sale were interested in my content since they had seen me before at another yard sale they held last month, so they had me write down my YouTube channels and said they would check it out. Probably won't be impressed at the themes I use for my LPS and other videos. Since those are geared towards YOUNG ADULTS and feature subject matter not meant for innocent eyes. Speaking of, I should get to work on my next video.
And like the title of this post suggests, I'd say this was the first perfect father daughter day we've had in a while! Tomorrow will be our first day back at pantry in like....A MONTH!
Never order a MCDonald's breakfast biscuit...
I actually remember liking these. But I think this case might have just been from a bad batch... That'll happen yknow?
Gonna go through the plushies I've taken down so far and see which I wanna keep in my room (stuff like South Park, Animal Crossing, etc) and which can just go in our chamber of stuffies (the basement). Also, I checked Craigslist for any yard sales in case there was anything worth going to, luckily for us, nothing has turned up. So this Saturday will be focused on catching up with projects we haven't touched since COVID. Like yknow, the table dad and his friend were working on!
That plus I have another little Smiling Friends project I brought up last night on the drive home from my grandma's house.
My dad's brother and his wife are gonna be staying with us for a bit, and we don't have enough beds for everybody. So my dad is gonna borrow the mattress from my top bunk while they're here. So I'm gonna be cleaning out the plushies and other things I've displayed for the past 5 or so years. Don't worry, we'll put everything back once they've left.
And remember, dear viewers. TRUST YOURSELF!!!!!
Smiling Friends Go To Brazil (as well as the other 8 episodes) are AVAILABLE IN FULL at ARCHIVE.ORG!!!!
But yeah, reminder to download episode 9 of Archive.org
A Google Drive for Smiling Friends Go To Brazil has worked WONDERS for me! I also screen recorded the episode just in case the actual download doesn't work out. And NO I have not watched it during the screen recording, I wanna approach this special with fresh eyes.
Now I bet you're asking yourselves, "why would you want two copies of the same thing?!" Well...In the words of my grandfather, "you gotta have a backup."So we went out for dinner yesterday in honor of my parents' 34th Anniversary. The three of us thought it would be a good idea to go to a new Mexican restaurant that just opened up in what was once a Ruby Tuesday (damn you to hell whoever thought it was a good idea to close down that place). So we get there and there aren't many cars out ON A WEEKEND! Cuz usually when it comes to Mexican joints in our turf, they're usually busy on weekends, so this was probably the first red flag.
The actual dining area was really nice! It was practically like any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. But the food was insanely overpriced for the amount you were getting. I don't remember how much my cheeseburger and fries cost, but it surely was not worth paying for a small burger the size of a stress ball complimented with a side of mushy french fries.
Dad said that this would be DENNY'S quality Mexican food, his words not mine. I'm just gonna stick with our local places.
This is in response to dad sharing an old animation he helped me out with circa December 2020.
I'm currently in the process of hiring more animators, storyboard artists, and writers for my Home Movies fan series. My motivation to do "not real animation" has been drained to the bone and having extra help outside of it just being my and dad would be a nice change of pace. But once I get more animators, my work will be changed to me being s background artist as well as keeping my respected roles for the characters. I can't say WHEN episode 8 will be put back into production, but hopefully it will be soon.
So dad found this yard sale on Craigslist where someone was closing down their Ebay\Amazon store, they have shelves upon shelves of toys and collectables. But the thing is....I also wanna go to Antique World this weekend. I'm very conflicted by what to do here, I do wanna check both of these things out though. What do you think we should do in this situation?
Your pal at the flea market is holding that item for you, so we should definitely go there Sunday.
But, FYI, here's the Link and some photos.
My Grad party is quickly approaching. Today, I'll be going with my mom and grandma to order the cake and look at what we could have for party favors.
I'm also still trying to figure out how to get Alan's sheet finished. I did wind up making an edit not too long ago for the concept, but that's really about it. I'm pretty satisfied with how this one turned out. I'd say just a few more practice edits and we can move onto the official ref sheet!Seems like we're on a bit of a hustle this week.
Today: Therapist
Wed: Shopping
Thursday: Errands up the wazoo (as per usual) plus my LGBTQ support group
Friday: I don't think there's anything on Friday.
Saturday: SMILING FRIENDS GO TO BRAZIL!!!! (Though, I probably won't see it until we've pirated the episode.)
Sunday: Antique World! (Oops - I forgot that this is the first Sunday!)
Also, dad recently got back to work since he's pretty much covid free. (Actually, I still tested positive, but there's now a zero-tolerance policy on people taking two week blocks to recover. Unlike last Summer when I spent a month-plus covering for people!) We'll be making our grand return to food pantry on the 14th after a long hiatus with being sick. Fun times! Also, I have a Smiling Friends short coming out at one point or another. I recorded my lines TWICE, but the script is subject to change when the special drops.
Where we live, we've got a little chain called "Mighty Taco." And let me tell ya, my parents always treated it as the to die ...
