The escapades of an autistic daughter and her dad. Follow along to see what oddball posts will surface from the depths of the basement. In the words of Courtney Campbell, "Come on in and spend some time with us!"
With it being the last day of June, and the annual "Budsies Summer 25% Off" sale just around the corner, its about time I open up about my next project after Paula, or quite possibly, after I've commissioned all the Home Movies characters.
So this project will obviously not be as much of a large quantity as Home Movies since there are only going to be 4 plushies this time around, and all of them varying in size. Two of the four will be the standard 16 inch that I'm used to buying, while the other two in this lineup will be what Budsies calls "SUPERSIZED" which is an extra $59 on top of the already expensive price tag.The first plush I will be commissioning is one of the supersized characters... However, there's one little nitpick that dad disagrees with a LOT on the character in question.
I'M WILLING TO DIE ON THIS HILL!!!! (Edit by me, obviously).
I'll be doing more edits like these throughout the day, just so I can get an idea of what this slightly altered Alan would look like ref sheet wise.
HOT SHOTS!
Slight edit dump for all the fluffy Alan stans out there (besides myself).
I tried my hand at altering some images for a ref sheet, but that got pretty tedious. I'll wait for the day dad and I can get cracking on one. I was initially gonna use the turnaround sheet on Newgrounds, but there are two factors as to why I didn't.
1) It would be stealing someone else's work
2) some things were off in the osm such as the pupils.
Since my Grad party is coming up in two months from now, mom and I have decided to look at some venues that are willing to house at least 30 people. Will see how the process goes! :) I'm also supposed to meet up with an old friend in a couple of weeks, so that should be exciting too!
But the part of the day we're all looking forward too is....
Make sure you meet us AT THE RESTAURANT, dad. Chinese buffet? You don't have to tell me twice! Good luck with the catering safari.
And if we have enough time, we can continue work on BB. Anyways, I'll be tuning into that "crazy character" I love sooooooo much.
The "free" section on Craigslist is something I don't scroll through that often. My main reason is because most of what's to offer is usually stuff like furniture, old TVS, etc. But this time, I found something.
This looks like our basement!
Now I'm not interested in the entire bin, rather the Pikachu and that camo bear, which just so happens to be a "Build a Bear Small-Fry" plush. I'm unsure if this person is willing to separate the items, though. We shall see....
On the topic of things, I might be spending some money on a custom t-shirt for the Weird Al concert that's coming up! It's gonna be a simple red shirt with a picture of Shannon and a caption reading "Right in the Cannon" in reference to the "Politics" episode.
The image in question.
Not too much planned this weekend but what the heck!
I've been into lost media for about 4 years now. Most of these mysteries that I look into are usually related to lost episodes of shows, cancelled movies and TV series, unfinished video games, etc. Well today, I'm here to talk about something I'm surprised (but also not surprised) wound up being lost at one point or another.
In the early 2000s, flash games were all the rage, and Adult Swim actually hopped onto this bandwagon during their early days! I didn't know of this until now but they actually made some HOME MOVIES FLASH GAMES! As of now, I only know of 2 that exist. One is a simple clicking game called "Look Alive" where you control Brendon on the soccer field while Coach MCGuirk talks your ear off with random lines. While researching this game, I actually found some footage which I will link riiiiight HERE!
The second game was a Starboy VS a Mutant Hot Dog game?! Sadly....This game does not have any footage online. So I can't share any images on here. But luckily, someone created a zip file with both games as well as other Adult Swim goodies. But we would need to use a flash emulator to actually play them :( But to make up for this, have my favorite song in the Starboy lore (besides the opening theme).
Now to work on the animatic for scene 2 of BIJOU BLACKOUT!!!!!
Sunday started off pretty normal. Mom had a work shift (every other Sunday) and she'd be visiting a relative afterwards. So dad and I tended to our monkey business and continued about our morning.
By the way, last night was somewhat of a success. I say somewhat because there weren't a ton of people there. It was just us, my friend and her dad, and two other people. At first, I didn't understand why there was such low attendance, but then it hit me. June is usually the time when AnthroCon (a big furry convention in PA) is held, so the other fursuiters were probably there. But I walked into that bowling alley with not a shred of fear, because I was determined to show my pride!
Getting back to today, dad and I drove to pantry this afternoon and we noticed a lot of stuff from the fellowship hall was parked by the garage. So I decided we'd scope things out after our shift (I did a quick peek earlier in case there was anything worth grabbing before heading inside). So we got to the pantry room only to notice it was completely rearranged for the millionth time in a row, and our usual coordinator wasn't present this time. Guessing she had to take care of stuff behind the scenes. But we worked with the other helpers no problem (well there were some casualties like having to squeeze through these narrow shelves that were placed). Luckily, dad and I managed to pack two whole orders before calling it a day while everyone was restocking items.
Which brought us back to the big pile of waste. Just so we didn't show up to be too suspicious, dad and I parked our car by the loot. We both went looking around to see what would be of interest. While dad didn't find anything, I got some art supplies plus a stuffed toy from "How to Train Your Dragon." Idk if this would count as an "accomplishment" but today was daughter's first garbage pick!
PS: My dad has done garbage\curb picking in the past. His finds usually wind up being speakers\amps. But hey, its something! Tomorrow will be my first day of permanent Summer vacation!
All war against the rights of women aside, today is one of my annual monthly meetups. And I'm gonna be a little risky and take my bi flag to wear as a cape. As for my plush video, I'm not sure what it'll be other than just a filler clip show.
so the morning started off smoothly, I slept in untl about 8:00? Mom came into my room and said she'd see me after work. So after catching up with some messages on my socials, I got up and went to find dad (who was working on a cartoon in the basement). We struck up a conversation before I excused myself to heat up my biscuit rollups.
After I arranged my meal, I went back to the basement and invited dad to watch Home Movies with me while I ate. Which was exactly what we did! We wound up watching the renaissance episode, as well as "My Cheatin Heart" and "Guitarmageddon." All were just as good as I remembered! And of course, I never had a dull moment with the "Weird Lil Mama."
As I am typing this, dad is out mowing the lawn before it gets hot out. We'll return tomorrow where I prove my statement!
No more school = more time to work on my channel! Sure I have real life responsibilities to worry about, but now that school is over, I'll have more time to script with friends amongst other things.
Frame I made for our video.
I was VERY tempted to put 1919 instead of 1929, but felt that'd be a bit much. We didn't get around to animating because I wasn't feeling up to working on anything yesterday. But I did rig audio for the scene where the four critters arrive at the theater (including a guest appearance from SMORMU!) Until then, I'll work on some of my animatics I've been meaning to catch up on.
BAD NEWS, DAD! LOOKS LIKE WE AREN'T RID OF THAT LITTLE BALD BASTARD YET.
I can already see the "Caillou gets grounded" videos that will be made.
Annnnd the bad news keeps on coming! Has the Supreme Court decided it is unconstitutional to NOT watch this?
Since we're almost done with the first scene (just have one more animatic to animate). I'll try my hand at animating the second scene where the critters show up at the theatre. But first, I gotta do some practice drawings for the millisecond of Smormu being on screen! Also, is it just me or is the only character I can accurately draw is Pim...
I have more, but they're all on my tablet. But yeah, I've got this and Home Movies stuff coming soon.
And while you're waiting, have some more pictures my aunt and I took the other night.
Here's an album my band was on, back in the day:
EVEN MORE NEWS!
I just saw that!!! (Although it look like they've named the series "ODDBALLS?")
Haven't had any time to work on projects the past week. So today will finally be time to catch up! And the cherry on top is that I'll have even more time now that I've graduated!
As for today, I'm probably gonna work on short animations like the one above. I'm also considering getting back to REVAMPED at some point, but let's worry about finishing the "Smiling Fans" pilot first before we go back to that dept. So far, we're almost done with the first animatic. We've gotten up to the scene where Pim asks if anybody has any big plans for the weekend before Mr. Boss enters with the tickets.
Screenshot time!
Yeah, I've managed to animate three lines of dialog, so I'm pretty jazzed. #humblebrag
A week with my aunt has come to an end. She plans on returning in August for my Graduation party amongst other things. We ended it off by going to a farther part of town and stopping at a few stores. I usually don't wind up going to this particular area, but yesterday was a rare exception...
We did plan on going to our favorite Chinese buffet on the way home, but just as we pull in the parking lot to meet dad, we were given a big slap in the face after finding out that they were CLOSED! So we wound up eating somewhere else. Luckily I'll be going back to food pantry this weekend to get myself some extra money for the flea market near the area we went to.
Starting tonight, we'll be grinding down on projects again. I would look at our progress on Bijou Blackout, but dad has the drive used for Glep's lines. So we'll have to wait until later.
OOOPS!
This song has been stuck in my head since our movie going venture.
A good chunk of yesterday was just me just sitting on the couch, watching King of the Hill. I watched some of seasons 4-5 just because I felt like tuning in that day. But hopefully once my Aunt leaves town tomorrow, we can continue work on Bijou Blackout and other things.
Been meaning to post this.
So today, we're *SUPPOSEDLY* going out of town to visit some stores. I say "out of town" cuz its pretty far from our house. In fact, this is the same area where the flea market I've been meaning to go to is located. Will try and head there over the summer soon hopefully. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll continue watching an iceberg video on, of all things, DANGER RANGERS!
Since we're posting YouTube videos, here's my latest upload. Trigger warning: CLOWNS!
Ah, Fathers Day. Its nothing new, you give your father a card or present (in this case, dad's present was to go to the Bob's Burgers movie with me yesterday). We usually don't go all out with these things, its mostly just going out to dinner and the previously mentioned gifts.
One time when I was in first grade, we were all making Fathers Day cards! But my mom, who was volunteering that day, noticed that almost all the kids either addressed the cards to their grandpa or uncle, or just had NO ONE to address it to. We were in a rural, military part of the Carolinas that time and my guess is lots of these kids had single parents either without a dad, or their dad was deployed in some way. But here's my card that I made way back when.
Also the most accurate drawing a first grader could make of her father.
First, we got to go see the Bob's Burgers movie (will get to that momentarily), and secondly, I went out to buy that Craigslist lot!
Seller was super nice and took our generous offer of $80. I plan on keeping half of the plushies and possibly flipping the rest (clothes are also being kept). Mom and I plan on touching them up before they make their way to my bedroom. Oh, you wanted the review? Right. Let's get to that.
When it comes to adult animated cartoons getting their own movie, the outcome can wind up of two things.
1) You get a really great plot that would further drive more fans to watching the show it's to be promoting.
2) Horrible execution where the protagonist and practically every character's reputation is soiled. (Looking right at you, Tegridy Farms).
....And Bob's Burgers surpassed the first one. It was everything a Bob's Burgers movie should be. I mean you've got the Belchers working at their dying joint, and the kids having their own side plot. Tina's plot involves her attempting to ask Jimmy Jr. out for the millionth time, Gene wants to perform at the Wonder Warf with his band "The Little Bitty Ditty Committee", and Louise....We'll get to that shortly.
The plot involves Bob and Linda struggling to gather enough money to pay the bank off, leaving them with a 7 day time period to pay up (ON TOP OF THEIR RENT). Starting us off with this nice little showtune to have the audience settle in for what's to come. Antics ensue as Bob and Linda try and find a way to get the money they need so the restaurant doesn't have to shut down, while also giving attention to the side plot that the three Belcher kids all share. Which brings us to Louise's plot.
Basically Louise is scared of doing some trick on the playground, because of the fear that her hat might fall off. When a couple of female students take note of this, one of them quickly labels Miss Missy a "Baby" which I beg to differ. I mean, if you've watched the show in the past 10 years, we've all become well aware that Louise is capable of pressing anyone's buttons (particularly her mom and the school counselor). This conflict causes Louise to unintentionally uncover a dead body after falling down a hole that just so happened to occur earlier.
We're soon to find out that the dead body was once a man known as "Cotton Candy Dan" who worked at Wonder Warf for many years. So Louise makes it her mission to drag her siblings to solve this case as a way to prove that she is not a baby. The two plots eventually intersect for the grand finale. (I won't spoil too much other than my description).
This movie probably takes the cake as my favorite film of 2022 so far. It definitely deserves more hype then than damn "Lightyear" movie that was playing in almost every other room. And don't get me STARTED on that "Paws of Fury" crap (Why did you have to sign your soul away to this, Scott Pilgrim?)
Loren and friends have done it again! (10\10)
What did YOU think of the movie, dad?
I agree. This is everything a Bob's Burgers should be. Imagine if they went CGI, mo-cap or live action? Do I need to see Chris Pratt as Teddy? (Maybe I do, but still...)
Looks like they farmed out work to a half-dozen or so animation houses, world-wide. Canada, Ireland and, of course, Korea. To my eyes it all came together seamlessly. Man, a lot of stuff looked like it was shot on ones!
I also, give it 10/10! 👍👍👍👍👍
One final thing I wanna add. Please watch the show before the movie, it'll make a LOT more sense if you do.
I have another SPED interview today. Mostly talking about jobs and stuff and if I would be willing to work with a lot of people (yknow. Without getting a migraine). Luckily the meeting of dinner and ice cream later tonight should make up for it.
On the movie front, I was talking with mom last night as she was saying how she couldn't do the mall yesterday with her knee problems (especially after doing Wegmans beforehand). I asked if she think she'd still wanna do the movie with me and dad this weekend and she "I don't know. We'll have to see." So much for a "family outing" I'll know today probably. But if mom winds up not attending, that's alright. There's always when the movie releases on DVD!
Speaking of, my dad downloaded "The Bad Guys" last night and we had an absolute blast! Animation was fast-paced, emulating a more cartoony and slightly anime looking style, the voice acting was quite good too! I know for a fact that dad's favorite character is Mr. Snake cuz he's voiced by Mark Maron, one of my dad's favorite comedians. Overall, I'd give this movie an 8.5\10.
Craig Robinson ("Darrell" from The Office) was Shark!
See you guys tomorrow with our official review on the BOB'S BURGERS MOVIE!!!!!
UPDATE: Mom says she's unsure if she would be able to sit in those nice recliner chairs for so long, so she probably won't be going. Guess tomorrow will be another regularly scheduled "Father-Daughter Day!"
I finally got the report that YES, the Bob's Burgers Movie will be playing this Saturday at our theater. But....There's a bit of a problem.
Me: I'll check the showtime hours tomorrow so I know how much we should take out for tickets and refreshments.
Mom: Well I'm not sure we can go now cuz your dad has to get his tire fixed!!!
Me: Oh...
And dad is very strict about mom going to the location of this theater as its inside of the dreaded MALL around the corner from our house (where I'll be going today, no less!)
Showtime for Saturday is 3:10 pm, BTW. 😉
*Another convo to fill this blog*
(Me and my aunt discussing which stores to hit while we're there)
Dad: Well, my wife is NOT going in that mall.
Me: Dad. If mom is coming with us to see the Bob's Burgers Movie, she's gonna have to quite literally go inside the mall.
Dad: True...But we're taking the elevator up. (Theater is on the second floor).
So the plan is...
1) Go to the mall
2) celebrate my good grades with a celebratory lunch
3) shop
4) soft pretzels
That's the plan....
One of my long-time friends recently went on a date with their partner to see The Bad Guys...Maybe we should look into THAT too for future reference...
So I offered for mom to come with us for the movie on Saturday and she said "I'll let you know." So it may or may not just be the two of us. The theatre we usually go to doesn't seem to have Bob's Burgers listed for Saturday. Maybe they'll post it up soon. Until then....
Hello :)
UPDATE: The Drive-In has a 9:25pm showing! Also checked the snack bar menu and thought it would be fitting to get some burgers and fries (yes they actually have those on the menu).
I'm happy to have Mom come with us, however she has steadfastly refused to go to drive-in moves. I think reclining theater seats would be better for her. The good news is, it will be playing at our "preferred" theater:
Dad and I were talking about going to see the Bob's Burgers movie soon, and he brought up how we could go on Sunday as an excuse not to go to my loud uncle's house. (Seriously, they give me the WORST sensory migraine overloads). I brought up the idea to mom and she suggested we go on Saturday because the theater might be busy on Father's Day. So, dad? Whaddya say!
Also I screen recorded Mr. Frog last night. Now we can make a final DVD with ALL THE EPISODES!!!!!
HOW?!?!? (That's great - will burn that disc tonight.) Hello.
Now we gotta worry about putting some money aside for popcorn and drinks.
Here's a photo of which plushies I plan on flipping when I purchase this lot.
On top of food pantry, I have a side job helping my grandma around her house this summer, which will grant me some flea market cash while I save up for 5 weeks on this lot.
My godmother will be flying in tomorrow afternoon for another one of her visits! We've been throwing around ideas for what we could do together besides one trip to the mall, things like a little road trip out of town amongst other things have been discussed. In the words of my dad, "we shall see...."
Luckily, I'm only a few chapters shy of graduating from high school! Permanent Summer Vacay here I come!!!! Now enjoy this little discussion I had in the SF Discord Server about what would actually make a good episode for Smiling Fans! (Especially for Alan fanatics like myself here).
Take this idea into consideration, dad...
UPDATE: Found a lot on Craigslist that I'll save up for. Seller is asking $100 or "fair offer."
Seems like a good deal for $100.
Some I might keep, others like the Star Wars bear and Smurfette I'll likely flip on Craigslist. Other than that, its a bargain! And a good excuse for me to return to food pantry.
Woke up at about 7:04 in the AM. Mom and dad were having their breakfast while I started to rise from my fortress of slumber and talk to my good friend from overseas. Some time passes by and the missus clocks out for work.
My official morning started off with me and dad rewatching the "Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers" movie owing to my dad not watching the whole thing the first time and me not being a tired nauseous mess.
So just as we finished the movie, I brought up a yard sale that was being advertised in the neighborhood. So before we left, dad and I did a quick search of the local Craigslist to see if there were any other sales worth pursuing. We wound up finding one that wasn't TOO far from us, but was in the same route I take to get to my therapist's office.
Before I get to that part, I scored a Barbie doll at the one sale in our neighborhood. It was a doll from that line of badly animated CGI movies!
I got Liana (the one in the pink and orange dress). My doll's hair could use a little restyling but overall a really cool find! (Hope I can find Alexa in the future, she was my favorite in the movie).
Moving onto the block sale! This was where I truly struck gold! At first I wound up getting a couple movies for a dollar, leaving me with $9 to spare. Dad and I do some walking on this nice Summer day and whaddya know it, I found a huge bin of Build a Bear clothes for a buck each. Knowing my Honey Girls wouldn't mind a few extra outfits thrown into the mix, I dove right in. (Plus, Viv barely has any clothes since most of them are for Teegan, Keely, Risa, and Misha). Once I picked my outfits out of the large quantity, I went up to the kind people and paid for my purchases.
Just as dad and I turn to walk away
Lady: Did you see any bears you wanted?
Me: Oh um..Yeah!
Lady: Go pick one out for free.
We then walk over where I went through the small selection of Build a Bears and Webkinz they had, where I ultimately settled on a World Wildlife Fund leopard (I named him Daniel) and we made our way home!
Here's todays outcome!
A nice way to spend a Saturday morning I must say!
Another morning, another trip to the hospital for some much needed stabbing. Now don't worry folks, mom asked for someone who works well with deep veins (a problem I have). And now that we had the ID thing squared away, I got off with no problems. So I had to sign my name on a few things, so I did. IN CURSIVE!
Nurse: I'm surprised you know cursive at your age!
Mom: Well we've been homeschooling for 10 years, so I taught her very early on.
Nurse: My son is 21, he had to sign his first form recently, but he did it in print.
Basically this girl and my mom were venting about how the schools have been dumbing down everything in recent years. So we got the jabbing part done and went out for breakfast afterwards.
Side note: TAKE A LOOK AT THIS EYE CANDY!!!! They nailed the crucifixion to a T! (no pun intended with the NAIL part). I swear these people make Blender look so easy!!!
This post was made when I was around 3 and a half years old. Where my dad questioned what the world would be like in circa 2020.
1) High Fashion Amputations.
Ok...So this was the first thing to have me dying of laughter when I was scrambling through dad's blog. This was dad's prediction of what teens would do in their high school days. I'll mark this as half true because there WAS the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge where kids would trap their lips in something like a bottle or mug, and they'd suck on it until their lips were all swollen. Need I elaborate further?
2) IV PARTY BAGS
Yep, throw away that old beer bong you have sitting in your attic, because so-and-so creations are here to bring you the new and improved IV PARTY BAG! This crazy contraption will be the perfect gag for any of your loud teen parties that were likely held without the consent of parents. The IV will not only give you the hangover of a lifetime, but will also likely put you flat on your deathbed.
I count this one as a near-miss! There's actually a company called IV360 that is all about HEALTHY, life-style "hydration" IVs. Sounds pretty quack-tastic to me.
3) POP MUSIC!
Probably the only accurate prediction on here. The music industry is all but a gigantic melting pot where artist off all types can celebrate their creativity!
And that's all! The first two predictions never happened thankfully. But what did happen is a global pandemic hit us and we were all in lockdown for months on end. HERE'S TO ANOTHER YEAR OF DAILY DAD AND DAUGHTER REPORTS!
CHEERS! <3
There was also talk of dinner at Athena's later....
